Analyse the different approaches used in the promo

Creed is a product they are selling. The structure of the advert/trailer starts off with a black screen and fades in to the main character holding belts. Dramatic music plays over it and makes the clip seem important and grabs attention straight away. The whole beginning of the trailer shows creeds fame and achievements over his career. They use short clips highlighting his medals, achievements and even his face on a magazine.

The first 20 seconds of the trailer was just the start of his life and what has happened to come to this new film. After 20 seconds the trailer then shows the company it’s made by and this symbolizes the start of the new story/the new film. Then fades into the distribution owner of the film (MGM) to symbolize the beginning of the film

After this animation the true trailer starts of the new film and gets the viewers ready for the trailer. The trailer starts with someone sitting on his car and creed is angry and confused. This turns out to be his old friend that has just got out of prison after 20 years. Creed agrees to train him to be a boxer as his friend wants to be. Everyone close to creed doesn’t think it is a good idea and that he should make his friend go on his own path just like creed did. This is done as it follows the same plot of Rocky 5 as Rocky trained his friend and he betrayed him and fought him on the street. They made the plot similar so new fans get to have an experience similar to what Rocky fans got but also so old fans gain nostalgia and see how the franchise has developed.

This is clever as the target audience for this trailer and film as a whole is quite large as the franchise spreads through generations. Then creed introduces his friend to the gym however he starts to get cocky and starts to hurt people in sparring. Creed doesn’t like this and knows something is off so he confronts him and his friend doesn’t care. His friend then tears through the division and his wife tells him he needs to fight him.

Unlike the plot of the film this is unlike the older creed and Rocky films as the wife is usually scared for the husband to fight. The reason they did this is to show that the plot is still unpredictable whilst still following an old plot. They then have a sequence of training scenes and the trailer ends with them throwing punches at each other leaving the result of the fight to be determined in the film. Then fades into the date it comes out and how to watch it which is an example of call to action.

EDUCATIONAL

For the educational audio visual promo im using the home office fire kills advert. The advert starts with a camera on the floor showing a child’s train toy showing that someone young is in the house. The camera then focuses on a woman putting food into an oven/mother of the child. The room is slowly showed and reveals nice cards on the kitchen table. She then throws a tea towel onto an open flame and walks off.

The camera then pans to what seems to be the other room but ends up being a different house with a dog and two elderly people. They have used dogs and children and elderly to make the audience feel bad for the people affected. Makes the viewers think about being safer around fires as it could happen to anyone and everyone.

This advert not only shows that everyone can make a mistake and cause a fire but also the ways in which fires are caused. This advert works very well with smoothly transitioning between different scenes in a light way whilst conveying quite a serious message. The last part of this advertisment shows yet another incident where fire has taken over a house however at the end it cuts back to the original kitchen showing how fast the fire progressed. The last scene shows the letter from the child to the father instilling the sense of sadness.

An animation then fades in stating that fire kills and to test fire alarms if you haven't already.
